I presented my master’s thesis, O fio e a trama: negócios e trabalhos femininos na vila de São Paulo (1554-1640)/ Thread and fabric: business and feminine works in the São Paulo village (1554-1640), in 2006. The doctoral dissertation, on gender, economy and clothing culture (1554-1640), dealt with themes such as the modifications in the way of dyeing and of representing colors; textile production and clothing, highlighting the role of guilds; the circulation of second-hand clothes and of the cultural manifestations of clothing consumption; the roles of gender in the economy and the clothing culture. My post-doctoral research, regarding Gênero, têxteis e vestuário no Novo Mundo (1580-1640)/ Gender, textiles and clothes in the New World (1580-1640) on the one hand aimed to keep the themes discussed in my doctoral research and, on the other hand, to considerably expand the scope of the research to the Iberian colonization, dealing with the production, the circulation of the fabrics and ways of dressing. In this post-doctoral research, I investigated different regions besides Brazil, such as Peru, Mexico, Spain, the United States and Germany.
